Lagesa's researchers publish article in an international magazine

The article was published in the Waste Management magazine dedicated to information on the generation, characterization, minimization, collection, separation, treatment and disposal of solid waste.

The article entitled Governance tools: Improving the circular economy through the promotion of the economic sustainability of waste picker organizations by Renato Siman, Luciana Harue Yamane, Roquemar de Lima Baldam, Juliana Pardinho Tackla, Sarina Francisca de Assis Lessa e Priscila Mendonça de Britto, aims to evaluate aspects of corporate governance in Brazilian organizations of recyclable material collectors in ordes to improve theirs position in the solid waste recycling market.

A methodology was developed that sought to identify the operational activities of organizations, the hierarchy of these arctivities according to the criteria that influence effiency in the recycling market and, finally, the creation of reference models to optimize the productive activities of organizations.

As a result, the authors afirm that the selective collection, the form of reception of waste and activities such as sorting, pressing, baling and marketing of selected waste are the operations that most influence the market efficiency of these organizations.
